Under 14 Girls vs Lewes
Today saw our U14 girls travel to Lewes for their first league match of the season.
This was going to be a big test for the girls – with several members of the squad playing their first competitive match.
A hard fought first 5 mins saw the nerves settle, with Uckfield building a great passage of play to Lewes 22. However, a loose pass allowed Lewes to gain possession with a very quick Lewes winger managing to make a break all the way to the try line.
Following that Uckfield found their stride. The tackles were more forceful, the rucks more powerful and the scrum became a guaranteed Uckfield ball (either with or against the head). The backs began to stretch their legs as well. With the team scoring 4 unanswered tries to take a commanding lead 20-5
However, the team did relax in the final quarter, allowing Lewes to score 2 more tries, and leading to a final score line of:
Lewes 17-20 Uckfield.
A great match, and some outstanding rugby in perfect conditions!
The U11/U12 girls also travelled to Lewes for a joint training session and a friendly mini-match – which the girls all thoroughly enjoyed – before supporting the U14’s from the sidelines.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
