Match Report
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]A wet and windy away day away to Seaford. After a disappointing performance last weekend, the Acorns were looking to get back on track.
Injuries and illness lead to a few changes to the starting line up to the one that faced Shoreham last week.
A strong south-easterly wind and intermittent rain were the conditions which greeted the Acorns and at the toss Seaford decided to play with the wind in their favour for the first half.
Uckfield played the conditions perfectly and showed great resilience and organisation in defence, a marked improvement from the previous week.
The Acorns frustrated the hosts and held them to just a 7-point lead going into the break.
The second half tactics were clear, as the Acorns looked to utilise the wind and put boot to ball and force Seaford to play from deep within their own territory.
Guy Cornick snapped up a fantastic interception on the opposition 10m line and made a great dash for the line.
Great pressure from the entire “Purple and Gold” contingent then led to penalties within kickable range for captain Jordi Southgate. Some solid place kicking allowed the Acorns to edge into the lead.
Some expert defence lead to a great turn over by Luke Austin to allow Jordi Southgate to add the all-important winning points.
A fantastic performance in some challenging conditions.
We now look forward to next weekend’s fixture against Burgess Hill.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]To see more in-depth statistics/details on the match, see the full match report here: Seaford vs Uckfield[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
