Uckfield Rugby Club welcomed over 50 players to their annual summer rugby camp at the beginning of August aimed at 5 – 12 year olds with our first day being run by Harlequins Community Coaches and days 2 and 3 being run be our very own RFU qualified coaching staff.
Our players enjoyed sessions designed to develop the passing, catching, evasion and kicking skills with a strong focus on attacking rugby! We mixed it up with games of Danish Longball, Rugby Tennis, Chicken and Hero, Capture the Flag (always a favorite) a few obstacle courses and of course Touch Rugby!
Our senior man and ladies continue their perpetrations for the new season training on Tuesday nights (moving to Tuesday and Thursday evenings from the start of September) as have our Junior boys and girls with their Thursday night sessions (moving to Sunday Mornings and Wednesday evenings from the start of September), and our Touch ruby sessions have been an amazing success with a typical attendance of 60 players from 5 to 55!
At our club AGM the Club Chairman ( Gordon Buckland ) and Club Board presented their vision to club members for a new club development: the extension of our facilities to increase our changing rooms from 2 to 4 and allow us to cater for up to 100 people, and amazing new facility that the whole of Uckfield can enjoy!
As we type a few of us are looking forward to the summer rugby internationals, warm ups for the World Cup which starts in October, but more Importantly getting ready for the new season which starts on Sunday 3rd September for our Mini and Junior Players and September 9th for our Senior Players.
No matter the age or ability we are always looking for more players to join. Fin out more at uckfieldrugby.uk to find to more or e mail hellow@uckfieldrugby.uk.
