Following defeat to a well drilled Jersey Team in first league game. Uckfield travelled to very soggy Burgess Hill with a strong team that even included subs a rare treat. The first half was a close game with 2 try’s for each team initially and Uckfield went into the 2nd half ahead.
As Uckfield began to pull away the balance shifted further towards the visitors after Burgess Hill received a red card following an altercation. The second half continued with Uckfield playing down the hill which allowed for some more free running rugby with free flowing lines from the backs. It was clear that Uckfield were in the ascendancy with more players getting on the score sheet, the win looked very likely. However, an incident escalated and this concluded the game as the Ref (under 18) rightly called an end to the game with Uckfield Winning 30-10.
The Ref as highlighted above had a great game dealing with the above calmly and professionally.
- Nick Bolton
- Abe Calum
- Spanner Fleming
- Tristan Douglas
- David Cooke
- Sean Bate
Conversions – Are an area for work on as we didn’t manage to successfully convert any and we insisted on continuing to score in the wide channels.
Man of the Match
Ian Paige-Mitchell was very close and had a great game given his obsession with Tap and goes continually gaining us yards and getting us on the front foot. It however goes to Matt Spencer who activated his dancing feet with ball in hand as well as some real tenacity at the breakdown.
